Day 41: To see and be seen.

I'm stuck, right now. I'm not sure what to write about and in some ways, that's the beauty of this particular experiment. I have always been of the "keep the pen/fingers moving" school of free writing, but I confess: When I've done that for too long without sharing, the writing gets really weird and boring. I get bored with myself. I spend a lot of time talking about my problems and then self-soothing--finding a way out of the terror and the sadness and the fear.

Day 38: They Might Be Giants' Birdhouse in Your Soul, from a choreographer's perspective

I've been digging through my email backlog. I've gone from 1100+ emails in my personal inbox to 561 at present. Most of these emails are just things I didn't archive when I should have (thank you for letting me know my bank statement is available). Some of them are emails that should stop arriving (I know where to find my bank statements when I need them, thank you) and some of them are legit emails that I have been ignoring.

Day 28: Drupal in the Arts Recap

You guys! I ran a BoF at DrupalCon! I've made it! Next....the world!

Okay, maybe that's not next. But it was exciting to be driving the conversation at this big convention, not just soaking it up. I was worried no one would come. I had to review my session description to remind myself of what we might cover. But we had a group of about ten people and a great discussion.

Day 17: Knocking the rust off

Yesterday I worked out in my living room. That means I:

  • Danced for 5 minutes to a workout playlist on Spotify,
  • Did three sets of pushups/squats/planks/jumping jacks, and
  • Stretched for 10 minutes.

Something happened yesterday that hasn't happened in years.

I was improvising and I bent my knees deeply. Like a deep squat. Just once.

It didn't hurt. I didn't have to take a break. I just got out of it and kept dancing.

Day 7: Arts non-profits and a general sense of unease

Today I attended an event at the Women's Center for Creative Work. The event was called How We Organize: A Critical Reading & Discussion Group on Non-Profit Arts Organizing. It basically checked all conceivable boxes for me (not really, but like 80% of them). Arts? Organziations? Cynical critique of the non-profit system? At a feminist space?

YES PLS.

Day 3: What else is there.

There are so many things I could write about today. I could write about the vagaries of missing the SECOND DAY of a one hundred day project. I could share some of the awful copy I wrote yesterday for my business. I could write about the panel I was part of yesterday, about technology as a parallel career to an arts career. I could write about my orientation at the Small Business Development Center. I could write about DrupalCon and the BoF I am leading about Drupal in the arts.

But really, there is only one thing I can write about today.
