This week's reads (Mar 16, 2020)

Shocker, but a lot of reading the past few weeks has been centered around COVID-19. Only sharing things I really liked b/c otherwise this would be a clusterfuck.

Outbreak, an interactive disease simulator by Kevin Simler
Why the Coronavirus has been so successful, by Ed Yong
COVID-19 Community Resources & Links – New Mexico
Sequoia ‘Black Swan’ memo could steer companies off of the COVID-19 cliff, excellent takedown of some dangerously short-sighted Silicon Valley nonsense

Recommend The Missing Ring as a fun way to pass the time. Mystery interactive fiction!

General update: Paul & I are on voluntary lock-down. We are both working from home, not seeing any humans other than each other. We probably won't be going anywhere for a few weeks based on our current supply levels.

To pass the time, I've been:

  • Playing Untitled Goose Game
  • Running virtual board game nights
  • Knitting
  • Watching RuPaul's Drag Race
  • Having virtual movie nights
  • Planting seeds in my garden
  • Virtual writing groups
  • Finishing various house projects (Assembling a fancy microphone!)
  • Deep cleaning

Writing has been challenging to get to, but satisfying once I'm doing it. The garden, on the other hand, is a seemingly endless source of peace.
